NEPHI, UTAH (August 9, 2018) – I-15, Utah. Authorities reported a distracted shuttle bus driver rear ended a semi on Thursday morning.
Around 9 Thursday morning, Salt Lake Express shuttle bus was being driven southwards on I-15 when the admittedly distracted driver crashed in to a semi.
5 passengers were taken to Central Valley Hospital and Mountain View Hospital via ambulance. A few others of the remaining 18 passengers were driven by a school bus that was near the crash to Central Valley Hospital.
The highway remained closed for some time for cleanup and a gravel dump from the damaged semi.
The driver of the bus is being investigated for distracted driving.
Salt Lake Express is a shuttle service with pickup locations throughout Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Washington. This is not the first time a crash has happened with Salt Lake Express. On February 24, 2018, a drowsy Salt Lake Express shuttle driver collided with a highway barrier and tipped, injuring several of the passengers.

It is terribly unfortunate to be injured by another in a car crash, especially, when the injured person was not at fault. The occupants of the bus that were injured has every right to seek reparations for the damage and injuries caused by the negligence of the shuttle driver. According to Utah law the injured occupants may have a right to make a claim against the Salt Lake Express or their insurance for their injuries, vehicle damage, the loss of loved ones and loss of enjoyment of life.
